Talent Festival 2008

It was the night of the talented people, the annual Talents Festival, An annual talent show showcasing talents of people from all over the world. The show was packed with a mix of nationalities, dignitaries, people from different industry and performers. I remember I was one of their feature talent last year, along with the designers from Fashion TV. This time, it was DJ Missy aka Maliha, A Filipino-Bahraini, a student of mine and family friend. She showcased her battle routine with head tones overlapping an electro beat with a ripping combination of flare and orbit scratches. The crowd watched with awe as they saw a young girl performing scratches like a pro. Also in the attraction was a group of Filipino BBoys, I saw these cats perform with world BBoy champion Ronnie at the Red Bull BC One months ago, amazing talents!

It was a great gig at the launching of the 2007 DMC Technics DJ Championships in Dubai, UAE! With the legendary Dj Qbert opening the event for the Middle East finals, I get to Jam with Q, we chill at the lounge and have my vinyls and slipmats tagged :-) Pretty cool guy, It was awesome watching him scratch live and of course, playing with him and using his sets! Yee-hah!

World BBoy Champ is Pinoy!

His name is Ronnie Abaldonado. They call him BBOY RONNIE, the Reigning RED BULL BC ONE 2007 BBOY World Champion! Born in Guam, this Fil-Am breaker lives in las vegas and battles the world with his boys the full force and super crew! I got the chance to be with this great talent during the Red Bull BBOY workshop here in Kuwait held at the Shaab Park last Friday and Saturday when Red Bull called me to DJ for these guys, Haah! Lucky me! I had a chat with Ron and found out that his mom's from Iloilo City (just a few minutes from the airport) well, he's not that fluent in tagalog but surely he understands it very well! He flew back to Dubai (for another leg of his world tour) Sunday morning. I had my "Return of the Bboy" vinyl tagged by this dude:-) Jealous? I bet you are! Check out their website here.
